Arizona Fall League Update: Quiet Night For Pirates' Prospect As Peoria Loses Another Game

This one got ugly pretty quickly for the Peoria Javelinas, dropping their game against the Surprise Saguaros by the score of 10-6.

It was a pretty quiet night for the prospects from the Pittsburgh Pirates, especially when looking at the night before. Only two players got into the game, and neither really did anything to stand out on Saturday.

Ji-Hwan Bae led off for the Javelinas but this time slotted in as the team's designated hitter. He recorded a lone hit on the night, finishing 1 for 5 with a strikeout.

The only other Pirate to play was second baseman Nick Gonzales, who went hitless on five at bats, striking out twice himself.

Both Bae and Gonzales recorded the last two outs of the game in the top of the ninth inning. They weren't expected to come to bat again, but Peoria scored four runs in the frame to allow the duo to get another at bat in. They both flew out to end the game.

One of the notable players in the game overall should come with a familiar last name if you follow deep enough in the Pirates' system. A fourth round pick by the Cincinnati Reds in 2017, Michael Siani went 1 for 4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases on the day for Surprise.

Michael is the broth of Pirates' minor leaguer Sammy Siani, who played with the Bradenton Marauders in 2021.

There are no scheduled games on Sunday, and Peoria will get an added day off on Monday as well before returning to the diamond, playing the Mesa Solar Sox on Tuesday.

Peoria's next scheduled game would also be a week since we saw both Michael Burrows and Roansy Contreras pitch in the AFL. Without any confirmation, it could be safe to say we'd get a look at the very least of one of them then.
