Arizona Fall League Update: Nick Gonzales With Four Hits As Peoria's Offense Explodes

Looks like the extra day off for the Peoria Javelinas did them good, as the they topped the Mesa Solar Sox  with their biggest offensive output of the young Arizona Fall League season.

All three Pittsburgh Pirates' position prospects played and scored a run each, all though not all of them recorded hits.

Ji-Hwan Bae batted lead off and was the team's designated hitter, and eventually added another hit and two runs to his ledger. He scored both of his runs on Bryson Scott hits in back-to-back innings in the first and second.

After Bae in the lineup, Nick Gonzales hit second and recorded four hits on the day, driving in two runs and scoring one himself. He hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Canaan Smith-Njigba drew another walk, his ninth of the AFL which puts him in a tie for the third most in the league. Otherwise he went 0 for 4 with a strikeout on the day.

The Javelinas continue their AFL schedule on Wednesday with an afternoon game against the Surprise Saguraos.
