Arizona Fall League Update: Roansy Contreras Starts, Pitches One Inning In Peoria Loss
The Peoria Javelinas were unable to build upon their biggest offensive output on the season, dropping their game to the Surprise Saguaros on Wednesday by the score of 5-1.
Nick Gonzales was the only hitter of the Pittsburgh Pirates' prospects position players to play today, batting second and playing second base again. He went 1 for 2 with a walk on the day, the hit being a single.
Roansy Contreras started, but only pitched a single inning that he struggled to get through. He threw 35 pitches in that lone inning, only 18 of which went for strikes. He gave up a two-run home run, which accounted for the runs he allowed, walking one and striking out one.
Former 11th round pick Michael Burrows didn't have the best of outings either, allowing three runs in 2 2/3 innings. He allowed five hits and a walk but struck out three batters.
Bear Bellomy and Carmen Mlodzinski also pitched in relief for the Javelinas, throwing scoreless innings. Bellomy threw 2 1/3 innings of no-hit ball, walking one and striking out another. Mlodzinski threw a perfect ninth inning, only needing 10 pitches to retire the side.
